Nepali Drama 'Ghero' to play on international stages

 'Ghero' is a folk drama which presents the superstitions prevailing in the Nepali society along with the Balan style originality of the ancient culture prevalent in Gandaki.

 Produced by Indreni Theater, the play vividly portrays the impact of superstition on Nepali society. Kedar Nath Poudel, author of the play and chairman of Indreni Theater, said that the play was based on the endangered Nepali society, especially in Gandaki.

 "It is easy to see and understand in the play how much the misunderstanding of a simple incident has a negative effect and how the bad people of the society take advantage of it," he said. He said that the use of Balan style and storytelling from hymns is a strong aspect of the dialect and love drama of Gandaki Pradesh. He informed that the play was first staged at Youth Creation Theater from November 29 to December 14, 2018. It has been staged internationally in Rara National Drama Festival, Pokhara International Drama Festival, Nepal Music and Drama Pragya-Pratishthan and South Korea, Germany, Calcutta and other places. .

 Rem Rasaili, who is playing the role of Puchare Kanchha in the play, informed that Nepali actor is going to take 'Ghero' to the International Drama Festival to be held in Luxor, Egypt .

 He said that the festival will be held from March 14 to 21 and it is believed that there will be competition with 11 different international groups and they will perform well.

 Jyoti Hamal, Jhankri and Bhansikar Kapil Sharma, Nilam Tamang as Furumai, Ram Hari Adhikari as Dandaghare and Anil Timalsina as Dhaka Mohan will act in the play. The play is designed by Vibhu Bhusal and the lighting is managed by Dipendra Poudel.

 The play was conceived by Saroj Aryal, with Prakash Rijal, Krishna Udasi, Raju Poudel, Vikas Poudel, Samjhana Adhikari Poudel and Binod Poudel in the background. The play is written and narrated by Kedarnath Poudel and directed by Kapil Sharma.

 Artist Jyoti Hamal informed that the Nepali team is going to Egypt from Kathmandu on Monday with the belief that it will perform well in the international arena.

 He said that their goal is to introduce Nepali art to the world in the international arena through 'Ghero'.
