Actor Paul Shah has been acquitted by District Court Tanahun on the charge of raping a minor.
Paul Shah's lawyer Kamalamohan Wagle informed that on Tuesday, the bench of District Judge Komal Prasad Acharya acquitted Shah on the ground that the claim in the rape charge was not sufficient.
The district court also acquitted Paul Shah's manager Krishna Joshi. Joshi was accused of playing a supporting role in the case.
A case was filed against Shah in Tanahun and Nawalparasi East on the charge of raping a girl.
In the same case, the District Court Nawalparasi East had acquitted Shah in the rape case and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison on the charge of child sexual abuse and 1 million rupees compensation to the victim.
Paul has filed an appeal in Pokhara High Court against the decision of Nawalpur court.
On February 11, the minor's father filed a complaint against Paul at the Tanahun and Nawalpur District Police Offices. After that, Paul, who was absconding, reached the district police office in Tanahun on 15th of February and surrendered.
