KATHMANDU: Actress Gaumaya Gurung has officially signed her next film, Abhimanyu. The filmmakers confirmed her casting, making her the first actor to join the project. Producer Binod Poudel revealed that Gurung will play a crucial role in the film, though details about her character remain undisclosed. Abhimanyu will be directed by Sushant Gautam and produced under Seven Seas Cinema, known for its successful productions. Gaumaya Gurung made her acting debut in the film Gorkha: Beneath the Bravery after transitioning from the world of vlogging. She has since gained recognition for her performances in blockbuster hits like Kabaddi 4, Phoolbari, Mahajatra, and Rajaganj.
Last year, she was selected from Nepal as a talent for the prestigious Berlinale Film Festival in Germany, further cementing her rising stardom. The makers of Abhimanyu are set to announce the rest of the cast soon. Producer Binod Poudel is one of the masterminds behind the all-time blockbuster Purnabahadurko Sarangi.
Scheduled for release on September 12 (Bhadra 27), Abhimanyu revolves around how money traps people in a complex web and the struggle to break free from it. The film is set to be released in both Nepali and Hindi.
