KATHMANDU: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Four and a half years of investigation by the CBI found no evidence against anyone for conspiring Sushant to commit suicide. The conclusion is identical to one arrived at by an AIIMS panel earlier, which also ruled out foul play.
Sushant was discovered dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. The case made it to the headlines quite extensively, and Rhea Chakraborty was arrested for 27 days for her alleged role. Today, the CBI closure report explained further.
The CBI report affirms that Sushant’s death was indeed a suicide and that there was no external coercion or pressure. The investigation uncovered no conspiracy, and no one found any tampering or alteration of his social media conversations.
A report of closure is submitted when an investigating agency, i.e., police or CBI, completes an investigation and finds that there is not enough evidence to further investigate. Section 169 of the Indian Penal Code (CrPC) states that this report is submitted to court, providing a summary of what has been found out by the investigation and the conclusion drawn.
