KATHMANDU: Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos, aged 61, is set to marry his girlfriend Lauren Sánchez in the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. While the official wedding date has not been confirmed by local authorities, Italian media reports suggest the grand celebration will take place between June 24 and June 26, with festivities lasting several days.

To minimize disturbance to locals and tourists, Venetian authorities have announced that the wedding will be private, with 200 guests. Having experience hosting international conferences, film festivals, and high-profile private events, Venice is no stranger to high-profile events, and therefore the wedding is expected to blend into the city’s rhythm without causing much disruption.
A number of luxurious hotels in Venice have been said to have been reserved for the ceremony, with water taxis and gondolas being reserved for the occasion. The city, which is famous for its romantic scenery, has already seen a number of weddings of international celebrities such as George Clooney and Amal Clooney in 2014.

This will be Bezos’s second marriage. In 2019, he divorced MacKenzie Scott after a 26-year marriage. Bezos and Scott share three sons and one daughter. Following the divorce, Bezos became engaged to Sánchez in 2023. Lauren Sánchez, 55, is an American journalist and author. She was previously married to businessman Patrick Whitesell in 2005, but the couple divorced in 2019, and they also share three children.
