The upcoming movie Karsang is all set to release on Poush 26 (January 10) with its premiere screened on Wednesday evening at Big Movies in Kathmandu. The event was a vibrant gathering of filmmakers, artists, and media personnel, reflecting the anticipation surrounding the film.
Among the notable attendees were Film Development Board Chairperson Dinesh DC, celebrated director Deepa Shree Niraula, veteran actor Anup Baral. Popular singer Kamal Khatri, actress Melina Mainali and other artists added charm to the star-studded event. However, fans missed the presence of lead actor Dayahang Rai, who couldn’t attend the event due to his busy schedule. The production team reassured that his absence was purely due to professional commitments.
Karsang is a heartfelt project for debutant director Yam Sherpa. Speaking about the film, he shared that it captures the essence of rural life, weaving a deeply emotional, and family-centered narrative. The movie explores the themes of poverty and showcases the rich cultural tapestry of the Sherpa community. Director Sherpa expressed his hope that the story would resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impact.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Dayahang Rai, Srijana Ninglekhu, Jitu Nepal, Diya Maskey, Buddhi Tamang, Srishti Gautam, Doma Hyolmo, Prem Lopchan, and Survir Pandit.
Presented by Yarsa Films and Purushottam Pradhan Films, the movie is a collective effort of a dedicated team. The producer and cinematographer, Purushottam Pradhan, along with co-producer Govinda Bohara and executive producer Rupa Angchiring Sherpa, have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
