KATHMANDU: This Friday, the Nepali film industry has two highly anticipated action-packed films, Pitambar and Karma, lined up for release. Expectations from the films are high as they boast star-studded casts and massive promotional campaigns are being carried out on all mediums. But the question remains: will they live up to expectations?
Pitambar, starring Pradeep Khadka, is in the lead with 170 shows across the country, making it the most widely screened of the two. Karma, starring Bipin Karki, is playing in 124 shows, while the much anticipated Hindi film Gadar starring Sunny Deol is playing in a relatively modest 103 shows.
As for the current status of Basant, which has been running for a while, the film’s show count has dwindled to 55, while Anjila holds 42 shows. What’s even more interesting is the advance ticket sales for Pitambar and Karma, which appear underwhelming. Despite the impressive show attendance, ticket sales have been short.
Both films will need to depend greatly on word of mouth and public interest to boost their box office. Will these action movies win over moviegoers, or will they not be able to draw an audience? Only time will tell!
