KATHMANDU: Fans were thrilled when Don 3 was officially announced—only to be shocked when Shah Rukh Khan was replaced by Ranveer Singh in the iconic role. While SRK’s Don defined swag for an entire generation, the casting switch sparked mixed reactions. Others welcomed the new version, while scores of passionate fans were not ready to give up King Khan.

Nevertheless, curiosity about Ranveer’s version sustained the excitement. The production was to begin in early 2025, but the delays keep mounting. First, director Farhan Akhtar got tied up with his passion project ‘120 Baahadur’. Then, another twist hit Ranveer is currently neck-deep in Aditya Dhar’s action drama ‘Dhurandhar’, which has pushed Don 3 further down the line.

Insiders reveal that only half of Dhurandhar’s schedule is complete, and it may continue until October. Farhan is reportedly ready to roll cameras, but Ranveer’s schedule is the roadblock. To make matters more complex, Kiara Advani—originally cast as the female lead—has stepped away from the project due to her pregnancy. The hunt for her replacement is still on. It’s been nearly a year and a half since Don 3 was announced, but filming hasn’t started yet. Sources say if all goes well, the shoot may finally begin late this year, with a potential release in 2026.

But with uncertainty impending and no official word from Farhan or the team, fans are left wondering: will Don 3 ever hit the floors or remain a dream too bold to chase?
