KATHMANDU: Salman Khan’s much-expected movie Sikandar hit theaters on March 30 but is not making the audience go wild. While the film was widely publicized pre-release, now it is facing massive show cancellations in major cities. Several theaters have already replaced Sikandar with Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan.
According to a recent Bollywood Hungama report, Sikandar has been pulled from theaters in Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Indore. In Mumbai’s INOX Raghuleela (Kandivali), the 5:30 PM show has been replaced by Umbrao, while the 9:30 PM slot now features All the Best Pandya. Cinepolis Seawoods and PVR Orion Mall have also swapped Sikandar for L2: Empuraan. In South Mumbai, INOX Nariman Point and Metro INOX are now screening John Abraham’s Diplomat instead.
Despite a strong opening with ₹26 crore on its first day, the film’s earnings saw a boost due to Eid, collecting ₹29 crore on day two and ₹19.5 crore on day three, bringing the total to ₹74.5 crore. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, known for Ghajini, Sikandar stars Rashmika Mandanna opposite Salman Khan, alongside Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Satyaraj, and Prateik Babbar. However, the film’s box office performance suggests that even big names aren’t enough to guarantee success.
