Goddess Sita was born today exactly after one month of Ram Navami. It is believed that She was the symbol of power and bravery.

Sita, who is also known as Janaki, Baidehi, and Janakanandini among others, is believed to possess incredible strength and knowledge. She was married off to Lord Ram, who is believed to be the 10th incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hindu Mythology.

Sita Jayanti, celebrated today, is the day Sita came into being. It is observed on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of Baisakh according to the lunar calendar. The day is celebrated by worshipping Sita in all Ram and Sita temples around the country, especially Janakpur, center of the Mithila kingdom. People sign hymns in the glory of Sita.
