Nepali New Year 2078 BS being marked across the country today

The Nepali New Year 2078 BS is being marked across the country today, with exchange of greetings of prosperity and welfare.

Also known as 'Mesh Sankranti' or 'Baisakh Sankranti', today Sun will enter into Aries from Pisces.

The first day of 2078 BS, is a day of planning for successful future endeavor and evaluation of past ventures. Though people celebrate this day by going to temples and rejoicing to festive functions, this Nepali New Year 2078 BS, like the previous year is to be celebrated with precautionary measures, to curb the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bikram Sambat calendar is 57 years 8 month and 15 days ahead of the Gregorian Calendar. Bikram Sambat is believed to be named after King Bikramaditya.
