An environment activist has been trying to revive water bodies in India's southern city of Bengaluru to address the city's growing water crisis.
The activist is planning to restore 45 lakes in the tech city that was once known as India's garden city.
"By the year 2025, we expect the Agara lake to rejuvenate and address 25 percent of the city's water crisis," Anand Malligavad was quoted by media as saying.
He has recently managed to revive the Kyalasanahalli Lake in the city that was once treated as a dump yard.
Almost 35 percent of the city's population are dependent on borewells for their daily water needs as the water crisis in the city has risen at an alarming rate in the past few years, due to the destruction of lakes and loss of reservoirs, according to experts.
