Minor floods were reported from many parts of Sri Lanka as heavy rains due to the southwestern monsoon continued, the country's Disaster Management Center (DMC) said on Friday.
Kalu, Gin, Benthara and Nilwala rivers were overflowing, and several areas have been flooded, the DMC said.
The army has been placed in Galle and Matara districts in Sri Lanka's Southern Province to assist anyone who would be affected by floods, the DMC said.
The highest rainfall in the 24-hour period that ended on Friday at 8 a.m. was reported at 120 millimeters, the Department of Meteorology said.
Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization said the early landslide warnings for several areas in seven districts will remain until further notice.
