Hair care is one of the most essential elements to a healthy lifestyle. Ganesh Rokaya, a hairdresser at The Beauty Bar Nepal, Naxal shares some tips that you might find helpful while purchasing products and do’s and don’ts as well.

Not only is it necessary to choose our shampoo according to our hair type and its needs, it is equally important to keep in mind various treatments your hair has been through. “While purchasing a shampoo for your hair, you need to keep in mind whether you’ve straightened, colored or added any other sort of chemicals into your hair. If you have done so, it is best to avoid oiling as it will damage it rather than help it nurture”, Rokaya says. “Same goes for highlighting your straightened hair, go for keratin instead. While buying shampoo products, make sure you buy them according to whether your hair is straightened, colored or infused with keratin”, he adds.

After getting the correct shampoo for your hair, it is important to not wash it everyday. There’s a common misconception that washing your hair daily is good for your hair, but Rokaya fully disagrees. Washing your hair daily makes it dry and flat, making it look lifeless. “You should wash your hair thrice a week if you have oily hair/scalp, and twice a week if you have dry hair/scalp”, suggests Rokaya.
