Kidney transplant at Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara has been successful. A kidney transplant was recently performed at the hospital outside the Kathmandu Valley for the first time in collaboration with the Shaheed Bhaktabhakta National Transplant Center Bhaktapur and Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences. According to Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Executive Director of the Center, Yama Kumari Poudel, 51, was sent home after her husband Keshav Poudel, 53, donated a kidney to her.
Prada surgeons Rakesh Kumar Burma, Dr Dipesh Shrestha, Dr Rojan Adhikari, anesthesiologists Dr Aarti Rai, Dr Sobhit Thapa, nephrologists Dr Kalpanakumari Shrestha and Dr Lusan Singh, radiologist Dr Krishna Budhathoki and doctors and technical team from Western Regional Hospital were involved in the kidney transplant.
