Nepali Ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit will be honored with an international prize of one million US dollars. Bahrain will be honored with the prestigious ISA Award. He is going to be honored in the humanitarian service category of the award established in the name of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the former King of Bahrain. 1 million US dollars will be given in the award.
The organization said that it was decided to honor Dr. Ruit for his service and achievements in the community.
Dr. Ruit has served thousands of people by developing a simple method of treating cataracts.
It is said that the award will be presented at a special event in Bahrain next month. Dr. Ruit has previously received the Roman Magsaysay Award in 2006, the Order of Australia in 2007 and the Padma Shri Award in India in 2018. This year, there were 139 nominations for this category.
