KATHMANDU: Nepali students who were expelled from the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, after being beaten by university authorities, have returned home through the Birgunj border in Parsa.
Out of the more than 300 students who left Bhubaneswar on Monday night, a group reached Birgunj by road on Wednesday morning.
According to Parsa Acting Chief District Officer Nishan Raj Gautam, 95 students in the first group arrived in Birgunj on Wednesday morning. Gautam said that the students who were expelled from the college returned home through the Birgunj checkpoint.
A total of 76 male and 19 female students have returned home through this border so far. Of the returned students, 80 percent are from Parsa. Only a few students are from other districts said Gautam.
