The Confederation of Nepal Industry has discussed the tourism industry of Nepal with Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti.

In today's discussion with Minister Kiranti, steps to be taken to promote Nepal's tourism, the Union has informed through a statement that it has suggested policy reforms that should be done immediately and in the long term, including the initiative to remove it from the security list maintained by the European Union.

"The association has requested Minister Kiranti to take the necessary steps to reduce air fares, make the national flag carrier Nepal Air Service Corporation competitive, and remove Nepal from the security list maintained by the European Union," the association said in a statement.

In the meeting with Minister Kiranti, the Vice President of the Association, Raj Bahadur Shah, held the opinion that, despite Nepal being an excellent tourist destination, relatively few foreign tourists are coming due to the high cost of air fares in Nepal. Similarly, the vice president of the association Birendraraj Pandey said that the association is working together with the government for the development of the economy and is ready to move forward by cooperating for the development of the tourism industry.

Pampha Dhamala, chairman of the tourism committee under the federation, requested that the tourism industry be given the same facilities as other industries. He emphasized that Nepal's promotion campaign should be conducted in an effective and visible manner in international destinations.

The Association has also drawn the attention of the Ministry about the lack of air routes for the successful operation of Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Budh International Airport.

The association has also requested to take necessary steps to remove the limit of cash that Indian tourists can bring to Nepal and to take steps to develop and promote Nepal as a 'filming' destination.
