With the onset of monsoon season, people of Manang are in panic. As, last year the locals from Manang faced a lot of loss due to floods and landslides.
Many were homeless due to last year's floods, and are still forced to live in tents. The flood victims are still waiting for the relocation with safe shelter. Locals of Talgaon and Sirantal, who were displaced due to the floods, are hoping to find a safe place to build their houses.
Chief District Officer Rabindra Prasad Acharya said that the people of Manang are in panic mode again due to the onset of rain and lack of safe housing. Acharya said that no plan has been prepared to relocate or provide safe shelter for the flood victims before the rainy season.
He said that the locals, who were wandering in search of safe shelter after the suggestion of relocating the risky settlements, were told to build houses within the winter but could not be relocated.
They have not even been able to build a house on their own because of lack of land. Acharya said that seven households in Sirantal and 43 households in Talgaon have to be relocated to other safe places.
