Indefinite curfew clamped in Birgunj

The District Administration Office, Parsad has clamped indefinite curfew within Birgunj effective from Monday evening.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa district, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, issued a notice on Monday evening and said that the curfew has been imposed since 5:00 PM on Monday until the further notice.

Curfew is imposed in the areas within Nagawa Chowk in the east, Tilabe Bridge in the west, Parbanipur Parsa in nother and Miteri Pul (Custom) in the south of Birgunj city.

CDO Bhusal shared that curfew was imposed since a situation of clashes was created between two parties during the protest launched by the Hindu Samaj against a clash at Ishanath Municipality in Rautahat.

During the curfew, movement of people is prohibited while any kind of anarchic activities such as demonstration, protest, assembly within the areas where curfew is imposed, according to Bhusal.

Meanwhile, security arrangement has been stepped up in Birgunj Metropolitan City following the curfew. Around 1,000 security personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been mobilized in various places for security concerns, said DSP Kumar Bikram Thapa.
