Anil Gurung, a resident of Surkhet, who was injured during 'Operation Bali' on Tuesday, has died, Nepal Army spokesperson Narayan Silval told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti. During the search operation conducted under the command of Chief Fighter Nikil Kunwar, the peacekeeper, Gurung, who was working in the mission, was injured in the firing from the rebels after capturing the land. The injured Gurung was rescued by helicopter and admitted to Labial-2 Hospital in Buniya for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary-General has issued a statement expressing his condolences to the bereaved Nepali soldiers and their families. The United Nations has also condemned the attack on peacekeepers.
