KATHMANDU: Police have fired into the air after the royalist movement got out of control. The police initially fired tear gas after protesters threw stones at a fire engine that had gone to put out a house fire.

Protesters in Tinkune threw stones at a shopping mall and even set fire to some houses. After the situation got out of control, the police initially used a fire engine to put out the fire. Protesters also tried to set the fire engine on fire.

To bring the situation under control, the police fired three rounds of aerial shots.
