Police have arrested a term police officer in Jhapa on the charge of performing an abortion on a girl child. The arrested is Kamal Prasad Pokhrel, 30, of Tapli Gaonpalika-5 of Udayapur, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.
Police arrested him on Friday from Ward No. 2 of Gaurigunj in Jhapa while he was on duty. He is accused of taking the 14-year-old girl to Gahate forest in the same ward on Tuesday and raping her.
Pokharel was sent to Udaipur by the police, said Basanta Pathak, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Jhapa. He has become a temporary police officer from Jhapa in the local level election of 2079 BS.
