The government is to scrap the Procedure related to the verification of citizens' details and inter-system affiliation through the National Identity Card Management Information System.
Briefing the media about the decisions of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said, "The meeting of the Council of Ministers today decided to revoke the procedure related to National Identity Card considering the security concerns of the nation and individual's details. The meeting also decided to investigate overall issues related to it."
Other decisions, according to Minister Sharma, also Spokesperson of the government, include approving the first amendment related to the Land Use Regulation-2079 BS and forming a facilitation committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka to resolve the acquisition-relate-dated matter in Khokana area in Lalitpur for the Kathmandu-Terai Madhesh Fast Track Road Project.
Responding to the journalists, Minister Sharma shared there was a discussion in the previous cabinet meeting about the Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's statement that the garbage of the Singha Durbar and Office of the President and other places should not be picked up.
Sharma remarked, "The way the Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City presented the matter publicly, we have seriously discussed it in the previous meeting of the Council of Ministers. It is a matter related to our constitution, policy, and act. It is not good to say that the garbage would not be collected for the sake of fulfilling other demands."
During the media brief, the Minister clarified that there was no discussion in Tuesday's cabinet meeting regarding the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to neighboring India.
