KATHMANDU: Police fired tear gas after the royalist protest, which began at the call of the Joint People’s Movement Committee formed to restore the monarchy, tried to move from the designated location.
The police fired tear gas after the royalist group tried to move from Tinkune, which was designated for the protest by the local administration, towards New Baneshwor. The participants scattered after the tear gas was fired.
Supporters of the king continued to come to Tinkune from various places to gather for the rally. The police had closed the road leading to Baneshwor. The police have said that they had to use force after they tried to break the police cordon there. Tension has arisen before their rally begins.
