Tensions rise at Janak Secondary School, Gaindakot

The school premises has become tense after the students started demonstrations, saying that a female student of Janak Secondary School in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi was mistreated by a teacher

According to the police, a student who studied in class 12 was touched inappropriately by a school teacher and was also made to watch pornographic videos.

The students have set fire to the motorcycles of the school principal, Chudamani Sharma, and the teacher who was abusing the girl. According to Prajwal Shrestha, Inspector of the District Police Office, Gaindakot, six policemen were also injured when the students pelted stones at the teacher.

"We were in limited numbers. A large number of students came and vandalized the motorcycles. The situation is tense," said Inspector Shrestha. "Six policemen, including myself, got injured."

Police Inspector Shrestha said that the students were being dispersed by charging at them with batons. Inspector Shrestha said that additional security personnel were called after the attack on the police.
