A ward of Changunarayan Municipality has given 100 percent subsidy to its citizens for health and animal insurance. Changunarayan Municipality-3 Jhaukhel has implemented such program with the objective of providing easy access to health services to its citizens and encouraging animal husbandry.
The municipality has provided 50 percent subsidy to all the citizens of the city to provide access to health care. Ward Chairman Shyam Sundar Dhimal informed that Chanpa-3 Jhaukhel has provided 100 percent grant to all the citizens of the ward.
He said, "We have provided health insurance to 800 families of the ward with 100 percent subsidy by allocating a budget of Rs 2.5 million.
Similarly, the ward office has given 100 percent subsidy in animal insurance to attract all the citizens of the ward to animal husbandry. The state had provided 80 percent subsidy for animal insurance, but has now increased it by 20 percent to 100 percent. Giving information that 200 farmers have benefited in the ward so far, Ward Chairman Dhimal said that 2,000 animals have been insured including cows.
He informed that the farmers will get 90 percent of the amount in case of death of the animal and the farmers' family will also get Rs 500,000 in case of their own death. This year, the ward office has allocated Rs 1.6 million for agriculture program and given grant to farmers for construction of agricultural tunnel.
