The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday reported 127 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 272,557.
Of the newly infected, 47 are reported to be females and 80 are males.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 59 new cases of coronavirus infection — 44 in Kathmandu, 12 in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours.
As many as 136 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 268,796 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.6 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
Likewise, the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 2,054 with two more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,707 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 81 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 272,430.
More than 107.85 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,368,363 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
