The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday reported 130 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 272,055.

Of the newly infected, 61 are females and 69 are males.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 58 new cases of coronavirus infection — 45 in Kathmandu, 11 in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. Of the newly infected, 25 are females and 33 are males. 

As many as 194 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,055 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Monday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.6 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP. 

The ministry also reported the death of seven persons from the respiratory contagion in the past 24 hours. With this, the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 2,045. Presently, there are 1,744 active cases in Nepal. 

Earlier, the MoHP on Sunday had reported 119 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 271,925. 

More than 106.2 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,316,683 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
