270 coronavirus cases on Sunday: MoHP

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday reported 270 new cases of coronavirus in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 269,450.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 133 cases of coronavirus 103 in Kathmandu, 5 in Bhaktapur and 25 in Lalitpur — in the past 24 hours. Of the newly infected, 61 are reported to be female and 72 others male.  

In the past 24 hours, 403 people diagnosed with the infection have recovered as per the data shared by the MoHP. Altogether, 264,137 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 as of Sunday.

Currently, the country has 3,312 active cases with a 98 per cent recovery rate.

The ministry also reported the death of seven persons from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the nationwide death toll from the disease has reached 2,001.

A total of 2,043,255 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted in the country as of Sunday.

Likewise, 3,312 people have been reported to be staying in isolation while 145 others are in the quarantine facility in the country.

Earlier, the MoHP on Saturday had reported 232 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 269,180.

More than 98.64 million people have been reported to be infected by the virus worldwide and at least 2,121,266 have died, a Reuters tally showed.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
