445 coronavirus cases on Wednesday: MoHP

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday reported 445 new cases of coronavirus in the country. With the addition of the new cases, the number has risen to 266,143.

Of the newly infected, 184 are reported to be females and 261 males.

In the past 24 hours, 414 people diagnosed with the infection have recovered as per the data shared by the MoHP. Altogether, 259,772 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Currently, the country has 4,434 active cases with 97.6 per cent recovery rate.

The ministry also reported the death of five persons from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the nationwide death toll from the disease has reached 1,937.

A total of 1,997,009 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted in the country as of Wednesday.

Likewise, a total of 4,434 people have been reported to be staying in isolation while 237 others in the quarantine facility.

More than 91.45 million people have been reported to be infected by the virus worldwide and at least 1,962,623​ have died, a Reuters tally showed.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
