4.4m doses of Vero cell vaccine arrive in Nepal

A consignment of 4.4 million doses of the Vero cell vaccine against COVID-19 has arrived in Nepal today.

An aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation brought the vaccine manufactured by Beijing Institute of Biological Production (BIBP), China under Sinopharm.

NAC’s wide-body aircraft-330 had departed to China’s capital city on Thursday for bringing in the vaccines.

Of the total six million doses of Vero cell purchased from China, Nepal had received only 1.6 million doses.

With the arrival of the vaccines today, Nepal has received a total of 13.3 million doses of anti-COVID vaccines, of which the government has purchased five million doses while the remaining are received as grants from various countries.
