The major opposition party CPN (UML) has drawn serious attention to the government towards the draft of the USA's State Partnership Programme (SPP) that Nepal is supposed to sign.

UML's parliamentarian Pradeep Kumar Gyawali blamed the Nepal government considering signing the SPP would spur geopolitical conflict in the country.

Seeking special time in today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Gyawali, also former Minister for Foreign Affairs, demanded with the government to clarify the draft of the SPP made public.

He argued that Nepal should not conduct or be involved in any activities that would breach the independent and balanced foreign policy of Nepal.

The leader reminded that the erstwhile government had taken forward the agreement's draft following the correspondence with the USA in 2015.

Similarly, Gyawali viewed that it was beyond imagination for the Nepali Army to go for peacekeeping operations guided by strategies of any individual country unless at the call of the United Nations.

He also stressed the need for abstaining from any activities that would affect the country's foreign policy and its relations with foreign countries.
