Bajura of Sudurpaschim Province has been declared a zone with the guarantee of full vaccination coverage and its sustainability.
Local ownership, participation and commitments have been stressed for the sustainability of full immunisation coverage in the district.
The announcement was made by Province Assembly member and Economic Development Resource Committee President Govinda Kunwar at a programme organised here on Tuesday by the District Immunisation Coordination Committee.
All children below 23 months in all the local levels of the district have been administered all the prescribed vaccines that have been included in the government’s immunisation schedule.
Bajura District Health Office Vaccination Officer, Mahesh Chand, said all children below 23 months have been identified and administered the respective vaccines in every local level. The health office has also identified children from disadvantaged communities and ensured the required doses of vaccines.
Kunwar further mentioned that the government needs to deal with public health issues more seriously when the country is grappling with the pandemic.
Sudurpaschim Province Health Directorate Director, Guna Raj Awasthi, said eight districts in the province had been declared fully-immunised districts and full immunisation had not been guaranteed only in Kailali.
