KANCHANPUR: After the announcement of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, the family of Bipin Joshi, who has been in Hamas captivity for 15 months, is anxiously awaiting his safe return.

Although Bipin was not included in the first group of hostages released, his family remains hopeful that he will be freed in the next phase.

Bipin’s mother, Padma, said, “We had hoped Bipin would be released in the first phase, but that didn’t happen. My innocent son has been in captivity for 15 months.”

She remains hopeful that this ceasefire will lead to his release, despite the previous disappointments.

“We worry that the ceasefire might collapse and lead to war again. All I ask is for my son’s safe release during this truce,” she pleaded with the government.

Bipin was one of 49 students from Sudurpaschim University’s agriculture faculty who went to Israel under the “Learn and Earn” program.

However, within a month of their arrival, Hamas attacked the southern Israeli kibbutz of Alumim, killing 10 students and capturing Bipin. His whereabouts have been unknown since then.

Israel has announced the release of 33 hostages in the first phase, but Bipin’s name was not included.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak reassured Bipin’s family that the government is actively working through diplomatic channels to secure his release.
