Budget of Lumbini state government passed

The budget of the Lumbini state government for the fiscal year 2022/23 AD has been passed by a majority in the state assembly today. The budget was passed after Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti presented the decision in the meeting.

The budget presented on June 16 was discussed by the members of the state assembly at different stages. The government has allocated Rs. 42.63 billion for the coming fiscal year, out of the total allocation, Rs. 13.32 billion 76.32 million will be 31.26 percent of the total budget for current expenditure.

Similarly, it was proposed to provide Rs. 4.83 billion for local level financial transfer through financial equalization grant, supplementary grant, conditional grant and special grant and the share of financial transfer in the total budget would be 11.33 percent.

Replying to various issues raised in the state assembly in the previous budget, Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC said that next year's budget was presented for the prosperity of the people of Lumbini. He said that the budget was presented in line with the policy and program vision of the state government. He stressed on the need to implement the program taken by the Lumbini state government as it addresses the demands of the people of Lumbini.

At the meeting, Minister for Economic Affairs and Cooperatives Krishna Dhwaj Khadka claimed that the budget was addressed to change the living standards of the people. Stating that various programs have been put forward for the prosperity of the people of Lumbini, he appealed to give the budget as a common campaign of all. Similarly, a bill to make arrangements for the provincial police and a bill related to communication have also been passed by the state assembly today. The bill was introduced in the assembly by Damakumari Sharma, chairperson of the law committee.
