KATHMANDU: Representatives of various sports associations and organizations met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today and demanded that the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) be run legally and transparently.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar earlier today, the representatives of the organizations demanded that the Olympic Committee follow the ethical standards of administration, and ensure the future of Nepali sports by conforming to international guidelines that promote transparency, inclusiveness and democracy.
They also complained that the Olympic Committee led by Jeevan Ram Shrestha has not recognized them for years, despite meeting the required terms and conditions.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that the sports bodies and institutions should make themselves transparent, taking into account national and international norms and rules.
President of Nepal Equestrian Association Ravi Rajkarnikar, President of Nepal Baseball Association Deepak Neupane, President of Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association Achyut Khanal, Secretary General of Nepal Rugby Association Govinda Ghimire, President of Nepal Climbing Sports Association Ramesh Poudel, President of Alpine Sports Federation Nepal Govinda Prasad Bhattarai and Nepal Rowing Association General Secretary, Sampanna Shrestha were present during the meeting.
