Children get vaccinated against typhoid

174, 010 children have been vaccinated against typhoid in the district. During the vaccination campaign conducted in seven municipalities, children from 15 months to 15 years were vaccinated.

 According to the Health Office, Chitwan, the children have been vaccinated during the vaccination campaign that started on April 8. The campaign ended on April 17.

 According to the office, 79,216 children have been vaccinated in Bharatpur and 15,228 in Khairhani. Similarly, 8,804 children have been vaccinated in Madi Municipality, 20,562 in Ratnanagar Municipality, 15,863 in Rapti Municipality, 12,055 in Kalika Municipality and 7,224 in Ichchakamana Village Municipality, said Gitanjali Dhakal, Public Health Officer at the office. In that campaign, 540 vaccines have been given from vaccination centers.

 He said that most of the children in the age group of 15 months to 15 years are vaccinated against typhoid. He said that children are more affected by the disease as they are more prone to drinking water without washing their hands after drinking contaminated drinking water and defecation.

 The disease has infected 1,062 people per 100,000 population. He said that a study conducted by Patan Academy for Health Sciences has shown that 1,960 children under the age of 15 are seen to have been affected by the disease.

 He informed that the disease can be prevented by eating only well cooked food and keeping the food covered, not eating stale rotten and fried food and using only clean and safe drinking water.
