Citizenship ought to be obtained by birth: Oli

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the children of Nepali citizens ought to  obtain citizenship by birth.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, the UML Chairman said that the government should unveil a new bill on citizenship by amending the current bill on citizenship adding that a child of a citizen having obtained citizenship of Nepal by birth would acquire citizenship of Nepal by descent. "The amendment bill will be passed in three days," Oli argued.

On the occasion, Oli accused the government of troubling the issue of citizenship.

Similarly, Oli asked the ruling parties not to engage in politics of voting over the issue of citizenship.

Likewise, Oli protested the government's decision on the appointment and transfer of officials as the general elections were around the corner.
