Yukhangvir Hangam (Dumbar) from Nepali Congress has won in Meringden village municipality of Taplejung. He defeated CPN (UML) 's Kedar Jung Jongwang by 99 votes by polling 2,869 votes.
According to the Office of the Returning Officer, Durga Prasad Chongbang of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has won the election with 2,598 votes. His nearest rival, independent candidate Dawa Chhiring Sherpa, polled 1,657 votes.
UML has won in 1, 2, 5 and 6 of the six wards of Meringden, while Congress has won in 4th ward and the coalition party has won in 3rd ward.
