The construction work of 12 concrete bridges in the Surkhet-Jumla road section along the Karnali Highway has been completed in the last fiscal year 2020/21. According to the Road Division Office, Surkhet, the construction of these bridges started in fiscal 2016/17 and was completed in the last fiscal year.
Engineer at Road Division Office, Surkhet, under the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, Tularam Sharma, said that the construction of all bridges except over Tila Khola were completed within January 13.
Construction of the bridge at Tila Khola was completed in June as the contract agreement for the construction was signed late.
Construction of the bridges at Kuwa Khola, Kale Khola, Paltada, Kanegad, Guhegad, Dahi Khola, Tila Khola, Chhidena Khola, Sinja, Patale Khola, Lumchadi and Matekhola has been completed. The bridges were constructed at a cost of Rs 424.54 million, according to the office.
Meanwhile, the Karnali Highway has been obstructed due to a landslide at Serighat, Khandachakra Municipality-2 of Kalikot district. The landslide was triggered by incessant rain since Tuesday night. The Road Division Office has deployed a dozer to remove the debris from the highway. The highway is expected to open for traffic by this evening.
Similarly, a huge landslide triggered by continuous rain has blocked the road at Regil of Sanni Tribeni Rural Municipality along the Karnali Corridor. The road along the Karnali Corridor runs from Kalikot to Humla along the Karnali River.
