Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has stopped taking new applications for driving license from Tuesday. According to Namaraj Ghimire, Director General of the DoTM, the application system is closed after the number of applicants reached 572,000.
A notice was issued on Monday stating that no new application would be accepted from April 15 until further notice. The department had published the information saying that the examination of the applicants should be completed as soon as possible.
At present, the department and the licensing offices under different states have not been able to arrange the examinations in time.
Department spokesperson Loknath Bhusal claims that the application has been closed for the people waiting to take exams immediately. "We have stopped accepting new applications to arrange for a license test within a week of the application," he said.
