Election Commission: CCTV cameras mandatory at polling stations

The Election Commission (EC) has made it mandatory to provide CCTV cameras in all the 753 local level polling stations in the local level member election.

 To keep the counting process transparent and safe, EC has instructed to arrange CCTV camera. Spokesperson and Joint Secretary of the Commission Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that it was not necessary to keep the camera in some municipalities.

 In the last election, there was a dispute in the counting of votes in Bharatpur Metropolitan City and some municipalities of Chitwan. A total of 10 thousand 756 polling stations and 21 thousand 955 polling booths have been fixed for the election.

Voters will be able to view the list of names on the Commission's website as well. There are a total of 1,77,33,723 voters registered for the election. 

Deputy Secretary of the Commission Surya Prasad Aryal urged to make arrangements for proper distribution of voter education related materials as some of them were also sent by courier.
