Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel said the religious and cultural festivals have further strengthened a feeling of social unity, harmony and religious tolerance so as to prepare a solid foundation for national unity.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the
Muslim community's festival,
Bakar-Eid, today, he wished that such festivals may inspire all of us towards building a peaceful and prosperous nation by promoting the notion of fraternity, love and unity.
Religious tolerance is exemplary in the diversity-rich country, Nepal, albeit it is constitutionally secular, the message stated.
The chief minister also expressed his confidence that the day would further encourage us to fight against the global pandemic of coronavirus in unison. He also urged the revellers to celebrate the festival by adopting health safety protocols.
Bakar Eid is celebrated on the 70th day of the Ramadan festival. Financially strong people used to go to Mecca and Medina of Saudi Arabia for the hajj pilgrimage.
