The fire that occurred at Saleways Department Stores of Lakeside in Pokhara this afternoon was brought under control after two hours.
The fire was doused at around 6:45 yesterday evening, two hours after it broke out from the ground floor of Saleways Department Stores, Police Inspector Hari Prasad Poudel said.
According to Police Inspector Poudel, half a dozen shops witnessed damages from the fire. No human casualty was reported from the incident.
“Details of the damages will be availed soon,” Poudel said.
The fire could have caused due to the power leakage, it is said.
Four fire engines from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Pokhara Airport, and Pokhara Metropolitan City, and water tanks from the private sector were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
A godown of the Saleways Department Stores is completely destroyed in the fire, while Himalayan Java Café, Nasa Trekking Equipment, Paddle Nepal, Tibetan Culture Shop, Masala Beat, and other shops have suffered partial losses, police confirmed.
