Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud has said the symposium on 'International Partnership for Technology in Peace Keeping' has been useful to identify the use of innovative technology for security of UN peacekeeping mission.
Addressing the closing session of the 7th edition of the international symposium with the theme of 'harnessing technology for digital transformation', Minister Saud expressed gratitude to the UN for providing Nepal an opportunity to organize such event, the first one in South Asia. He reminded Nepal's role on global peace keeping and opined that Nepal would continue partnership with UN in future.
On the occasion, UN Under Secretary General for Department of Operational Support, Atul Khare, commended Nepal government and Nepali Army for successful conduct of the symposium.
Various issues of digital technologies and IT were discussed and experiences shared during the conference. It is believed that the event remained successful to yield positive result regarding the potential use of technology in the UN peace keeping missions.
The conference was attended by representatives of 11 peace keeping missions deputed in various countries of the world, representatives of 42 UN member states and experts.
