The Inland Revenue Office has collected more than Rs. 4 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year. The office has collected revenue of Rs. 4.25 billion from July to mid-January of the current fiscal year 2021/22

According to Yukta Prasad Subedi, Tax Officer, the office has set a target of collecting money. According to him, the revenue collection has been 105 percent more than the target in six months.

According to the office, Rs 2.79 billion towards excise, Rs 896.82 million towards health care, Rs 321.34 million towards income tax, Rs 197.28 million towards VAT, Rs 277.93 million towards interest tax and Rs. 5,000 towards education service fee has been collected.

In the first six months of FY 2020/21, the office had collected revenue of Rs 3.55 billion. The revenue collected in the first six months of the current fiscal year is Rs. 695.08 million more than last year, according to the office. In January alone, the office has collected Rs. 1.27 billion out of the target of Rs. 1.947 billion.

The office has been carrying out calculation, audit and investigation of the collection of Lamjung, Gorkha and Manang including Tanahun. However, Taxpayer Service Offices have been established in Gorkha and Lamjung since last year. An arrangement has been made for the taxpayers of Manang to pay taxes from Lamjung. As there was no Taxpayer Service Office in the two districts, the taxpayers were compelled to come to Damauli and pay their taxes.

The office has been conducting taxpayer education program and interaction program with the taxpayers to bring the taxpayers who are not in the tax net. It is said that the work is being done in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
