Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung resigned from his post on Sunday.
Chief Minister Gurung submitted his resignation to Province Chief Sita Kumari Poudel as per Clause 1 (A) of Article 169 of the Constitution of Nepal, Spokesperson at the Office of the Province Chief Chandi Prasad Aryal said in a press release.
Accepting the resignation of Chief Minister Gurung, Province Chief Poudel thanked the Gurung-led council of ministers for its performance made so far and has urged the political parties to form a government within three days as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Gandaki Province Assembly was scheduled to vote on Monday in a no-confidence motion registered against Chief Minister Gurung by the Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Centre and Janata Samajwadi Party. But, Gurung tendered his resignation before the House proceedings.
