Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has made public the newly appointed government’s basic strategy regarding the policies that it will adopt for the country’s foreign policy and international relations.

While addressing the House of Representatives (HoR) during the vote of confidence on Sunday, PM Deuba mentioned that the government’s first priority will be to strengthen the bilateral relations with the neighbouring countries. He said it would be for the good of the country to have cordial relations with both India and China.

He added that international relations will be established with other countries by keeping the interest of Nepal first. PM Deuba further mentioned that besides the neighbouring countries the government will lay emphasis on developing relations with the United States of America, European Union, Japan and other development partners.

The prime minister said no country is a permanent enemy or friend. Whatever decision the government takes will be by keeping the interest of Nepal in priority, he added.
