Govt. denied spying allegations

Communication and Information Technology Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that the news in some media that the government has mobilized intelligence to spy on former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is baseless.

In a press conference held today to publicize the decision taken by the Council of Ministers held on July 19, Government spokesperson Karki said, "I want to make it clear that the news that the government mobilized intelligence to spy on former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and interfered with the personal privacy of citizens by tapping their phones is baseless." He said that the government is aware of the freedom and privacy rights of individuals and appealed not to get confused. He said that the government is committed to respect and promote privacy.
